An avid plein air painter and longtime resident of Colorado, Elizabeth Neer’s pastel paintings are inspired by the gesture of a wizened tree, a breeze across the lake, the brilliance of a crisp winter sunrise. Since childhood, her interests have ranged from drawing and painting to graphic design, art quilts and quasi-functional furniture. Her utmost love is applying pure pigments to a textured surface—echoing a tactile relationship with the world outside.
Elizabeth often travels to paint with fellow members of regional pastel and plein air societies. She has studied with recognized pastelists (including an intensive term at Ghost Ranch) and her work has shown in juried national exhibitions. “Painting with pastels enlivens me. With boldness of color and form, I aim to share my love of the Southwest in all its phases of light and grandeur.”
