Rick Unger

Rick Unger, Western Oil Painter

Born in York, Pennsylvania, Rick started his artistic life early as a small boy. When he was a teen, Unger was already receiving commissions while still in high school. After high school Rick received three years of art training at the York Vocational School. Upon graduating from there, Unger married and moved to Texas.

The Texas landscapes and lifestyle were a complete contrast to Unger’s youth in Pennsylvania. Fascinated by what he was experiencing, Unger’s artwork moved into graphic art that was featured in both magazines and on TV. In the 1990’s Unger’s work moved back to fine art and gallery sales, where it remains today. Having fallen in love with the American West, a portion of Rick’s sales goes towards preserving wild mustangs. Unger and his wife currently live and work in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado.
