Born in rural Michigan in 1971, I started painting and drawing as a child. Art was a family pastime. I entered and won numerous awards in local competitions and helped finance college with pen and ink greeting cards of my hometown’s historic landmarks.
The topics of my work are inspired by a love of outdoor activities including hiking, rock climbing, backcountry skiing and fly fishing. I have been fortunate to visit many amazing places in pursuit of these activities.
As a child, I was inspired by the watercolors of Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent and California painter, Franz Bischoff. I currently follow the work of numerous plein air painters.
I graduated from Michigan State University and specialized in operations leadership. I retired in the fall of 2017. I now pursue my passion of the outdoors and creating impressions of my experiences.
My wife and I reside in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and spend our free time traveling, fishing, and skiing around the state.
