Gigi Vanetti

Gigi Vanetti, Encaustic

Gigi Vanettis is a mixed media encaustic artist, and her studio is based in Tempe, AZ. She also resides part-time in Pagosa Springs, CO. 

Vanetti has always been interested in learning different art mediums and exploring ones that keep her interest and feed her soul. Once she discovered the medium of encaustic (molten beeswax, tree resin) Vanetti was hooked and knew that she had found her passion. Wax has a mind of its own and when Vanetti paints, the wax hardens quickly and forces her to let go of perfection.

Vanetti’s process involves brushing or pouring on hot liquid wax, fusing it with fire, and then integrating colors and textures under translucent layers. It is a constant game of give-and-take, but it is the absolute best way to create a sense of mystery and fun on the panel.
