Joe Watkins, Scratchboard Artist

Growing up in rural Utah, Joe Watkins developed a fascination with the wildlife and scenic beauty of the high deserts and mountains of the American southwest.

Following a 21-year-career as an illustrator/photographer in the U.S Air Force, he set out to pursue his passion to become a full-time fine artist.

Watkins’ media of choice is colored scratchboard which allows him to bring out the detail and contrast in his subjects. He is a signature member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists with artworks in collections throughout the world.

Joe and his wife currently reside in Star Valley, Wyoming and Yuma, Arizona.
